What the exam covers
The exam is split into four job functions. Our full practice exam takes as many questions from each one as the real exam does.
How to use this practice
Start with short sets to learn the material. Every question has an explanation and a link to the rule or official page it comes from. When you are scoring well, take the full 50-question exam with the 90-minute timer. Your results break down by function so you can see where to study next.
The real exam also has 5 unscored questions mixed in. Our full set leaves those out, and our raw percentage is not the same as FINRA's scaled score.

What can a Series 6 representative sell?
Mutual funds (closed-end funds only in their initial offering), variable annuities, variable life insurance, unit investment trusts, and municipal fund securities such as 529 plans. It does not cover individual stocks or bonds; that takes the Series 7.Source: FINRA Series 6 exam page
Is my practice score the same as a real score?
No. FINRA scales and equates real exam scores, so a raw percentage here is not the same thing. Use it to find weak sections, and aim to score comfortably above 70 percent on full practice exams before test day.
How long do I wait to retake if I fail?
Right now FINRA requires 30 days after a first or second failed attempt and 180 days after a third. For retakes on or after January 19, 2027, those drop to 15 days and 60 days.Source: FINRA Series 6 exam page
